This painting is a visual manifestation of my interest in the concept of abjection, which I define as our attempt to grapple with a distorted familiarity that elicits both repulsion and fascination. This piece became vital for the evolution of my practice, unearthing my desire to break the boundary between viewer and surface to explore the question of what makes a painting a painting.
